As an Area Developer you are given the exclusive rights to help develop a territory and share in the income generated by the sales of franchisee and stores/units opened within your territory.

What are my responsibilities?

As an Area Developer your role is to:

Do I need automotive experience?

No, in fact we recommend business executives and leaders as Area Developers, those who have experience in management, sales and operations. Mike's has comprehensive training programs for store operations.

How is the Area Developer territory and fee determined?

Mike's Master Mechanics defines territories by using MSA's (Metro Statistical Areas). Some franchisors use DMA's which are larger areas but encompass vast areas sparsely populated which are not well suited for profitable locations. Generally speaking we can open one unit per 100,000 in area population. The Area Developer fee is calculated at $100,000 per 1,500,000 in area population. This would approximate the opening of 15 units within the geographic territory.

What are the minimum financial requirements to become an Area Developer?

A minimum net worth of $250,000 with at least $100,000 in liquid capital available. In addition, all candidates must meet our business experience qualifications.

Is financing available?

Yes, on selected territories and to qualified individuals. MK Automotive Inc. (a publicly traded company) is offering financing up to 50% of the territorial fee with zero interest (zero interest requires on time monthly payments) for terms up to 5 years.
